Gadget Folks: Question about GPS
« on: January 14, 2008, 07:16:02 PM »

I am needing to pick up a portable GPS system for my cage as I am in it all day for work.  Can anyone with experience with these steer me in the right direction as to brand, model #, upgradeable, etc.  I would like to get the biggest bang for my buck and don't want to over/under buy.

1. Definitely go Garmin. Anything else is less at best.

2. Genuine Garmin refurbs are the best deal. Check out www.TigerDirect.com and www.newegg.com for some good prices. Also check www.Craigslist.com as a lot of folks are dumping the Christmas presents.

3. Get a Ram mount and use it on your X as well.

Be sure and check out the VTXOA.com GPS forum for more info.

Garmin Zumo 550 comes with both auto and scooter mount. Works great!

Thanks for the info guys!  I picked up a brand new Garmin C530 Street Pilot last night for $198 shipped.  It's everything I think I will need.   O0

I saw that one, too.  It's nice.  It has more bells and whistles than the C530.  I really just needed the maps and stuff to get around my territory.  Hopefully, this will help!   O0

Hey DA, I have the C550 and it has no idea where your house is!!!  I haven't had time to check for an updated map yet.
