This is not a solicitation for you to join us, just an update. If you choose to check us out, say hello!
Carol and I started riding with the Colorado VTX Riders in late 2002. Like most of you, we bought our VTX and shortly after that wonderful experience we were introduced to the VTX community.
What a great community this has been. I must say we have covered many miles and enjoyed many smiles. We are fortunate to have met so many great people and shared with them some of the best roads Colorado has to offer.
Carol and I have also been fortunate to work with this group of amazing people over the last three years showcasing our state, its people and its great riding. We are proud to be a small part of the Colorado VTX Ride in July and it has been an awesome experience for us personally. Bar-none, this is one of the best Events within our VTX community and it’s no small accomplishment to offer this yearly event.
Our only goal, and for our detractors and the naysayers out there, THAT IS GOAL and not a personal agenda, has been to help the Colorado VTX Riders to build the best possible group and offer a great July Event allowing people to ride and socialize with other great people across the country. Ride and have fun with friends.
Most of you that participate regularly with the Colorado Group are painfully aware it has become increasingly difficult to do anything as simple as having fun.
It has been far too long that Carol and I have had to defend ourselves against unfounded accusations and it is sad to see after so many years and so many miles, it all comes down to this. We have decided it is best for us and the group to distance ourselves from the people who continually bring us and this group down. Unfortunately with no structure and no guidelines, all we are left with is chaos.
After many discussions as to the best course of action for us, we came to the following conclusions. If it weren’t for enjoying the company of the majority of people within this group and the July Event, we would have distanced ourselves from the group long ago.
In order to socialize with those great folks within the group and stay involved with July Event, the solution we came up with was a separate chapter for the Colorado VTX Riders. It would put distance between our detractors within the group, allow us to socialize with the many friends we have made and continue our involvement on the July Event.
We proposed this issue to the Colorado VTX Group asking for support of a new chapter and continued support of the July Ride. The results of that proposal from the message board, emails and at today’s Owners Meeting are as follows. 12 yes votes, 5 no votes and three that commented but did not say yes or no. Several also expressed the July Event as part of the problems within the group.
We believe it is in the best interest of the Group as a whole, the July Event and us personally to move on. It’s time to be proactive and try something new.
The formation of a new chapter having more structure, Colorado VTX Range Riders, is in process. Those that want to ride with us are welcome. Those that choose to cause problems will be asked to leave. The new website to help us promote our new chapter of Colorado VTX Riders and the July Event is www.ColoradoVTXRangeRiders.com We are in the process of connecting the links and email addresses, please be patient. For the next day or so, if you have any questions please contact vtx2up@aol.com Be sure to check back often as we will be adding new information.

If you would like to continue working on and promoting the Colorado VTX Ride in July we welcome you. All we ask is that you help within the guidelines established and don’t cause any issues for the group of volunteers or the Ride.
It really is a shame to deal with these petty issues when it would have been more appropriate to give our time to ride for Emily Keys. Another good reason to move on!

Yeah, it's been bad for the last three years. It's high time they split given the degree of animosity. When they had to change web sites two years ago, I expected something like this then. It seems a lot of states are having poblems, either internally or with 1 %ers. Glad we're not having...well, there is the swamp!

I thought I would be smart and ask my boss if he wanted to ride to Coloradical with me. His response was, "I'm already going to be there for my daughters wedding." Which when translated means, I'm going to be gone and you're not! >:(

Jerry I hope you don't ride all the way to Billings and miss the Coloradical!!!! Right now if I had to chose just one it would be Denver!!!!! Big-A and his wife say they may go to the Radical..... Randy (txcajun) and a friend of his are going to ride up possible the whole trip to Billings and on to Glacier National Park.... Tom may go from Cloudcroft Nm. We have passed beyond line 100 and have started to fill page 2 of the registration list! So far we have 169 people riding 127 bikes!
The WIVO's are the number 1 state group with 36 people riding 25 bikes, TX is a distant 2nd with 20 people on 14 bikes.

You guys might catch a BIG FISH, but I will tell you for sure that you will ride through and around some BIG ROCKS on the event!!!!!! It will be one that you will want to do again!!! On the motor home contackt Cliff on the Co. site for the best and closest place to the La Quinta, he is a real good guy...His wifes name is Carrol.... Did you watch The Amazing Race about two years ago when the hippies won it? They started and ended it at red rock, one of the rides at the Coloradical's destination.

My puter is giving me a bad time this morning!!! Had a response typed and lost it..... Jerry Quick-Silver is going to Billings Mt. for the Wing-Ding that starts on July 3rd... I have told him if he rides past this he rides past a GOOD ONE..... I think he intends to use KOA'S on the way up and stay at the college dorms in Billings.... The others I know of are staying at the La Quinta... We will leave on the 28th or 29th of June from my house, ridding the bikes.... O0 O0 O0 Stay in touch,and if I can help in any way let me know!!! Ok, I made our reservatios last week. Even though we are riding up in the RV we will be staying at the La Quinta with the rest of you all. We plan on touring and riding in / around Santa Fe following. Since we are taking the RV, there is room to carry cargo for anyone if you bring it to Austin. PM me and will coordinate.
Does anyone know if non VTX riders can ride? I have a local friend that would like to hook up with us.

My wife and I will be there. This will be our first VTX gathering. I do not get off work untill the 29 so we might not get there untill Sat or Sun. We are looking forward to rideing with other X's.

At this time there are 31 from Texas registerted and 38 from Colorado.... It would be GREAT to have more than the host state!!!! Kenny is right about the Coloradical. There's not a better place to ride and meet some really great people. If there's anyone out there considering the ride to Colorado, just make up your mind and do it. That's what we did last year and there were no regrets whatsoever. We're going back and gonna do it again.

Hey Kenny!!! Have you seen the July issue of "Rider" magazine? If not, you need to get a copy! You and your bike are featured iin an article written about the 2006 Colorado Ride. Dr. Greg Frazier wrote a very nice article about the ride.
Sure wish I was going to be able to make it to the ride this year. :'(

I have been to a lot of MC gatherings/Rallys and have always found Cliff's and Carol's Colorado gathering surperior to all the rest. I wouldn't go out of my way to go to another Wing Ding.-------- GOLD RUSH???? Maybe depending on where it is. Those riding other type bikes -you will see and even be led by other types. A kilt wearing guy on an FJR is one that really knows the area and a great lead. HDs to big Triumph rockets to several Gold Wings-- all are welcome. -- Oh Yes I have a courtyard room and have taken over the job of a lady of a couple of years ago I think in room 137, so NO DRINKING OR NOISE FROM THE COURT YARD!!! :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D Barn :-* :-* :-* :-*

We will spend the night of the 28th with friends in Amarillo then have a leasure drive to Raton. We plan to stop at Capulin Mountain just befor Raton. I have been told it is quite interesting. We will see you in Raton on the 29th.

We will spend the night of the 28th with friends in Amarillo then have a leasure drive to Raton. We plan to stop at Capulin Mountain just befor Raton. I have been told it is quite interesting. It is worth the stop... Walked around the top year before last.. Last year we just rode to the top and took in the view.. Ride Safe Ride Long There are a couple of good rides you can make if you want... from Capulin go north to Folsom and take 72 west to Raton... Also 555 just south of Raton is a dead end but a very nice ride.. Where the road ends the land belongs to Ted Turner ::) .. O0 O0 O0

I may just check out Capulin Mountian on the way. I work there from time to time when a locomotive breaks down. Last time I was at the rock mine I got locked in. They closed for the day and locked the gate. I pack a torch,small problem, In all the times I have been there I have never gone to the top.

I'M READY!!!! I can leave the Wednesday before, but will probably pack................or ride up to Great Sand Dunes again and spend the night, then take the back way to Denver. We are going to put another Horse Power Hill ride together on Monday early. Nice and leasurely...........not the FAST RIDE some like. I guess I will lead that one too along with the Rocky Mountain National Park Tour.
CAN'T WAIT TO GET THERE!!!!! Too bad RD and Tom couldn't have bought some retirement land in Colorado. How 'bout you, Kenny? I know of some neat places for you to buy so I..........er.........we can come visit you!!!! Joe

Joe do you watch the MOR chanel on TV. MENS OUTDOOR AND RECREATION chanel? The program called HUNTING LEASE MAG. and useuly a program just after that about REALESTATE, same people do both shows. ??? The guy's grand-daughter is at my house wright now! I think he can help.... My grand-daughter is going back to Castel Rock where she lives with her G-paw for a couple of weeks. They will be there while we are in Denver.... No room on the Wing so they will fly up... SEE YOU THERE!!!! O0 O0 O0

I'm leaving Thursday around noon. I'll probably be around Great Sand Dunes National Park that night and camp out. Then take the back way to 285 and go to Denver. May cut across 24 to Woodland Park then up Deckers/Horse Power Hill!!!!! I'm just a tumblin' tumbleweed for the next couple of days. See you there. Be safe.

VTreX don't feel bad about the wing. I converted mine to a trike so the wife could ride on her own. That's how I got the X ;D. I'll be at the registration and the ride briefing. You can't miss me if you checked our site lately and the monthly story at the bottom of the front page.

Heading up tomorrow, last year I rode, and traveled alone,had a great time. This year I'm trailering and bringing the family. Expecting to have a even better time. Last year I could only stay two days. This year I stay until my wife is ready to go home. I'm bringing her bike too so, by the time we get home, I will have another bikeaholic in the family,or a bike for sale.

Kenny and Arnold and their better 1/2's made it out of Temple at 5:30 headed to R. Star where I am and will join for the rest of the ride to Colorado. There is rain in this area but looks like the sooner we can head west the better we'll be at least for a while.

thanks guys, the weather up here in the mountains is awesome!!!!, i rode up to brekenridge this morning and it was in the 60's had to stop and put my jacket on, was up about 12,000 feet, there is just too much beautiful things to look at up here, my wife has just about wore out the camera. jeff, these roads are just made for a fjr, lots of fun, will start back home on thursday and work my way back down through the mountains from here to new mexico, will holler at ya'll when i get back, will have hundreds of pictures to sift through. O0

Wow is all I can say. What a ride and what a trip. We rode up over 14k feet; BTW this is the ride that I said I wouldn't do. Incredidable is all I can say. Big thanks to Big A and Joe (asmedic (sp?). Thanks for leading us on some awesome rides. I'm so sad about Jim's ride and hope he gets to feeling well. I'll be sharing some pics as soon as I get my new cable. And, BTW I won BEST CUSTOM PAINT Troupy :D
We are in Amarillo and can't wait for Palo Duro tomorrow. I'm really hoping for rain to be gone by the time we get home.
Oh, and I almost forgot. we had a blow out 35+ miles north of Clayton NM. David limped the RV along another 90 miles before we found a replacement tire. Thanks god for GPS. It's all good and we are here finally.

I just got home last nite, left on June 29th and back on July 17th. I rode all but two days.. One was in Boise Id. and one was at Tom's vacation house in Cloudcroft N.M. (where I was very ILL :P :P) Thanks to Tom and his family for taking care of me!! O0 O0 Total miliage was 5,930. The Road to the Sun Hiway was the best ride of my life!!!! O0 O0 O0 My wife hung in until Boise where she oppted out for a ride home with friends in a car... That was the 4,000 mile mark... 8) 8) We had a GREAT TIME!! O0 O0 O0 ;D ;D ;D For the days ridden the avg. was 350 miles per day.... Not bad for an old man and wife!!! O0 O0 O0
