Title: I think I want to get rid of my bike...
Post by: VTXDEMON on June 16, 2006, 07:44:53 PM
Well, it's been a long journey...  flames...  pipes...  200 rear tire, now 240 kit..  new paint job...  I think I'm worn out,  and worst of all, I think I should have gotten the M109R instead of the fixing the good old 1300.

who knows... maybe I'll just finisht puting it together and ride to my closest suzuki dealer and see what they say.   :(

I hear ya bro... I just picked up my Silver M109R today, had ZERO miles on it.  O0
All I can say is WOW.... Hard to keep the front end down.... It's heavier than my 1300, but it feels much lighter! Good luck on whatever you decide. I really like my classic look of my X, but the Sporty Zuke is awesome!

You'll always be the dude that offered me safe harbor in a storm. A gratitude that never expires, but all this wah wah wah over that 1300 is kinda girly.   The 1300 is you. Finish it and ride it.

Well Martin... there is a saying in spanish that goes like this  " Drunks and kids always tell the truth"

I have to finish the bike either way I go...  so we will see.  As far as a price for the bike, well  I think I could get some where between 11-12K if I post it in cycle trader...  I got way more $$$ than that wasted in the bike.

P.S.  my Cocker Spaniel is not a punk...

Keep the 1300 bro. It's kinda like sticker shock. This will pass and you will be lad you kept the 1300. Just think how much more money you will spend if you get the other bike :D

Gabe,

It's your money, and I respect your decision on how to spend it, but there's two things you ought to keep in mind before you replace your X.

First, no matter what bike you buy, once you own it, you'll soon find things about it that you don't like and therefore feel compelled to change, and you'll find many other things about it that can be improved upon.  So, replacing your 1300 with something else is not going to stop you from pumping lots of money into a bike.  What you really should do is look more closely at why you want to exhange your 1300 for an M109.  There's certainly no need to explain the desire for more performance.  But, if you're simply impressed with the performance of the M109, keep in mind that the various manufacturers are inextricably locked in competition to produce a better performing bike.  So, the M109 won't offer the best performing cruiser for the money for very long.  Sooner or later (and most likely sooner), another bike that you might be tempted to trade the M109 in on will appear on the scene.  Nevertheless, if you're determined to get greater performance out of a cruiser than you can eek out of a VTX1300, perhaps trading in your 1300 on an M109 may be the way to go.  Again, just remember that you may be locking yourself into a never-ending chase.

Good luck in your decision.  I appreciate that it will not be an easy one, but I'm sure you'll make the one that is right for you.

Mike

welllll..... isn't this interesting. I didn't see this yesterday. If it's not done when I get back I'll help you finish it and then we can burn it or something so you can get some insurance cash. Just think... at the end of this, you'd be the only person with an M80R.....I'll still be over to fiddle with it whatever happens. there can't be that much more to put back together... maybe you need to have a "save Gabe's bike" tech session or something so you can get some help with the final reassembly. I'm just sorry we didn't get it all done before i left.

Mike is right about the modding disease, though. you're gonna change stuff on the Suzi as soon as you get it.. plate, lights, pipes PCIII.... it would be nasty, but do you really want to have another never-ending project? go ride my bike for a couple days and remember what it's like to fool around with the 1300. you might remember that you like it just enough to put yours back together and get it out of that garage. I'll look here to see what's happening either way.

I feel your pain brother. You remember the warrior. All the time and money spent. If you enjoy riding it keep it. If not, move on to other things. I suggest a Suzuki Burgman 400. Just kidding about the Burgman. Do what you want to do. I got your back.

Problem? Theres no problem.  If you can store 1 bike you can store 2 or 3 or 4....

This could be a good time for you to start a collection.  O0

I don't think you can get too crazy accessorizing the Suzuki.  My buddy has one, and can hardly find ANYTHING for it!

Thats how it was when I got the VTX... no pipes. no seat... but just wait a few months... the M109R will be just as popular as the VTX

HalGreenLee is actively looking for aftermarket items... www.directline.com

Cobra and HK has pipes already. I see Cobra is trying to jump the gun on this one coming out with product as fast as they can. One of the main things that I have not found yet is an air-kit. But, there's windshields, grips, they show a backrest but not actually on the bike, fuel pot, etc....

Thing about the VTX over the 9 is, the VTX has the 1300 and 1800. So they tend to have a wider market share with different price ranges.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOooooooooooooooooooooooo....................................

Ok, seriously do what you want.  Once the bike is back together ride it for a bit and see how much you enjoy it.  If you continue to stare at it wishing you had another bike...then I would go looking.  Give it some time.
